Breakfast w/Greg: John Stamos gets star on Walk of Fame; No full-frontal for Levi; Perez has new book
I’m blogging from the awesome patio of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at The Grove on what is a perfect Southern California day.
I want to congratulate John Stamos for getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. I don’t always understand some of the choices for this honor (those Olson twins got one years ago!) but John is very deserving.
He may look young but he’s been a star since the early 80s when he broke out as Blackie on General Hospital. He then had his own prime time show Dreams before spending two seasons playing Jack Klugman’s son on the NBC sitcom You Again.
Then, of course, came Full House and his role as Uncle Jesse for eight seasons. More recently, John starred in his won ABC series Jack In Progress which lasted less than two years then went directly to NBC’s long-running hit ER where he played Dr. Tony Gates for the show’s final four seasons.
John is currently starring on Broadway in the revival of Bye Bye Birdie. He’s no stranger to the stage making his Broadway debut in 1995 in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He also portrayed the master of ceremonies in Cabaret in 2002 and was in Nine in 2003.
John’s is the 2,393rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is next to the one honoring Dick Van Dyke, who played Albert Peterson in the original Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie.
“I can’t believe I’m standing here,” he said at the late-morning ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.
He thanked his fans “who have been so supportive over the years.” “I’m still amazed every time someone comes up to me and they say they’ve grown up with me or they’ve followed me since they were a kid. I sort of hate to call them fans. They’re more like friends and family. (You’ve) invited me into your homes for 27 years and allowed me to perform for you. I’m honored and I’m humbled for that.”
Among those at the ceremony were Full House co-stars Bob Saget, Candace Cameron Bure and Lori Loughlin; General Hospital castmate Anthony Geary, ER castmates Scott Grimes and Parminder Nagra; and singer Mike Love of The Beach Boys, with whom Stamos has occasionally played drums for more than 20 years.
Saget said at the cremony: “John has truly become my family. You’ve always been there for me in ways I can’t describe.”
Also present was Jack Klugman who said of his one-time on-screen son: “I love this guy.”
LEVI LETS US DOWN: We go from Stamos, a man who has earned his fame for nearly 30 years, to Levi Johnston, a man who is famous for getting Sarah Palin’s daughter pregnant.
I’ve been saying for awhile now that I don’t understand the fuss over Levi. Sure, he’s good looking but there are tons of guys out there who are just as hot or hotter.
But, I gotta hand it to the dude, he is milking it for all it’s worth by taking on Palin and agreeing to pose nude for Playgirl.
Now here’s the rub: Levi will not be doing any full frontal nudity as was originally advertised.
“He did not give ‘full frontal’ as his manager Tank [Jones] reported he would,” Daniel Nardicio, a spokesman for Playgirl, tells New York’s Daily News. Still, added Nardicio, “We’re thrilled with the photos we got, and are confident people will love them, but although there may be glimpses, we did not get full on frontal nudity.”
The photo spread featuring the 19-year-old Levi was shot last week. NBC News reports that publication, originally set for December, has been pushed up to this coming Saturday, Nov. 21.
Palin, currently on a nauseating book tour, talked a bit about Levi during her interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show which aired on Monday. Palin considers Playgirl to be “porn.”
“It’s kind of heartbreaking to see the road he is on right now.”
PEREZ TELLS MORE STORIES: Love him or hate him, gossip columnist Perez Hilton keeps on doing what he does: kick up controversy!
Although Perez already released a book this year, Red Carpet Suicide, so much has happened this year that he is releasing a second one just in time for the holidays.
“We’ve been keeping this a secret for so long and we are THRILLED to finally announce that we’ve been working on our second book!” he posted on his blog last night.
It’s called Perez Hilton’s True Bloggywood Stories: The Glamorous Life of Beating, Cheating and Overdosing and will be released on Dec. 1.
Writes Perez: “Our last book told U how to become famous and in this one we shed new light on all the juicy shiz that went down this year with the famous – and the infamous! And, of course, we talk about all the controversies we somehow managed to be embroiled in during 2009.
“Everything from Carrie Prejean and that fiasco to the Will.I.Am drama to Michael Jackson‘s death to the Dustin Lance Black sex pics to Demi Moore and Twitter and much much much MORE.”
And if you ask him, this book is a must-read: “We worked on it sooooo hard with the amazing Jared Shapiro and it is good. Very good! We love it much more than the first book!”
And there youn have it folks.
