Birthday girl Kathy Griffin set to make history with record 20th stand-up comedy TV special
Kathy Griffin turns 53 today and she can have a slice of birthday cake knowing she had made history.
Brooke Shields’ one-time sidekick on Suddenly Susan has become one of the hardest working women in showbiz and in December will set a record for the most stand-up TV comedy specials when her 20th airs on Bravo.
Yup, winning two Emmys, being nominated for multiple Grammys and having a number one best selling book isn’t enough for this red-headed domino: she is going to be in the Guiness World Records for “Most Stand-Up Specials by a Comedian.”
An official from Guiness World Records will present the honor to Kathy at her San Antonio show at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday, November 24. The special will air on Bravo this December.
“You know when I first heard Britney Spears’ lyrics to ‘Work Bitch,’ I knew she was speaking directly to me. I’m just following her direction, as we all should,” Kathy said in a statement . “At the end of the day, I’m humbled by the honor and can’t wait to set the award next to my two Schmemmys and forthcoming Grammy Award!”
