Billy Gilman finishes in 2nd place on ‘The Voice’
Billy Gilman finished behind Sundance Head on NBC’s The Voice tonight. His many fans are no doubt disappointed but let’s remember how well second place worked out for a guy named Adam Lambert on American Idol.
Although a fan favorite all season long, the 28-year-old Gilman was beaten by the sultry voiced Head when it came to the most number of votes and iTunes downloads.
We McDonald took third place while Josh Gallagher came in fourth.
‘To stand amongst some of the most talented people I’ve ever met was a lifetime thrill for me,’ Gilman tweeted after the show.
He also wrote: ‘Honored and proud to have been a part of @NBCTheVoice and so happy for @SundanceHead LOVE YOU DUDE!’
Despite not winning the title, the competition was a big victory for Gilman as it restored the stardom he first enjoyed as a child country music star who sold 5 million records.
But the sales stopped and he had faded from the spotlight until two years ago when he came out publicly as a gay man and restarted his career on his own terms.
His performances each week on The Voice with his versions of power ballads made famous by the likes of Adele, Frank Sinatra and Celine Dion.
