Billie Jean King reflects on 2017: ‘As I look ahead to 2018, I am filled with renewed vigor’
Posted today on Billie Jean King’s Twitter page: 2017 was a remarkable year. From spending time with @foxsearchlight & the entire team from @billievsbobby to the special friendship I developed with Emma (Stone), a true master of her craft, watching Battle of the Sexes come to life on the big screen was a thrill of a lifetime. Celebrating my friend @eltonofficial’s 70th birthday, and helping Kamau Murray to open @XSTennisVillage, an incredible athletic complex designed to benefit the Southside and all of Chicagoland, were also highlights. And to all who marched in solidarity in January, to the #SilenceBreakers and members of the #MeToo movement, we owe you a debt of gratitude. Thank you for your courage, your resilience, and your persistence. I stand with you today and every day of the New Year. As I look ahead to 2018, I am filled with renewed vigor, for there is much work to be done. We must keep #DACA (without the wall). We must continue to work for #equalpay and #equality for all. We must invest in our communities, and ensure that parents have enough resources to provide for their children. We must continue to thank and support our troops, as they work to protect our freedom. And above all, be kind to each other. Make friends w/someone whose life is dissimilar to yours. You’ll find that at the core, people aren’t that different. I am so grateful for my family, friends, & fans. You’ve made this life of mine truly special. Love & #HappyNewYear!
