Best selling novelist Jackie Collins has died
Checked my phone between movies at Cinema Diverse in Palm Springs tonight and was shocked to see that Jackie Collins had died.
She was a few weeks from her 78th birthday and was tweeting as recently as yesterday and had just returned from a trip to the UK to promote her most recent book The Santagelos. It turns out she had been secretly battling breast cancer for several years and only her family knew.
The family released this statement tonight:
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today. She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over four decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.
Author Christopher Rice had her as a guest recently on his podcast The Dinner Party Show and I’ve just been listening to it (included in the clips below) and she was just so current and living life to the full right up to the end.
