Barbra Streisand’s “Release Me” due out Sept. 25
Barbra Streisand has gone into the vaults to find material for her latest CD, Release Me.
Literally.
It features previously unreleased recordings from Streisand’s legendary recording career which now dates back nearly 50 years.
“It was quite interesting to go through the vaults, find these recordings and hear them again with the benefit of hindsight,” Streisand says of finding the material for Release Me. “You could say I’m more forgiving of myself now. In fact, I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I actually like the overall recordings, even with their flaws. Although I could have re-sung certain lines where I thought they could be improved, I decided to leave every vocal the way it was.”
Among the songs: Home (from The Wiz), Being Good Isn’t Good Enough (from Hallelujah, Baby!), I Think It’s Gonna Rain Today, Didn’t We, Willow Weep For Me, Try To Win A Friend, and Mother And Child, among others.
Also included is With One More Look At You, a beautiful ballad from A Star Is Born. I assume this is a studio version of the song because fans are very familiar with her live version from the final concert scene in the movie.

Thank you soooo much for the video of “Watch Closley Now” !
Years ago we had a show (lip sync) at our club. The best performance of the night was by a friend named Jo Jo. She put such life into her performance it was like she was really singing. It was powered by the song itself.
Hearing it again brought back cherished memories of a very happy time in my life.

Interesting that you chose that video. At my funeral i am going to have that song played in honor of my first lover and he affected my life.
