Barbra Streisand’s book plans when Barbra Streisand made movies? There were so many great ones like The Way We Were, Funny Girl, A Star Is Born, The Ptince of Tides and of course, Yentl. But since The Mirror Has Two Faces in 1996, Barbara has only appeared in one film: the 2004 smash comedy Meet the Fockers – the first movie she appeared in that she did not also direct since Nuts in 1987.

So why this trip down the memory lane of Batbra’s filmography? Because /i can’t believe that instead of making another movie, Streisand has announced plans to write a book – about her house! My witty friend Kenneth Walsh suggested on his Kennethinthe212 blog that she call it The Foyer Has Two Closets.

Streisand has reached an agreement with Viking for A Passion for Design, an illustrated book scheduled for fall 2010 that includes photos of the Malibu, Calif., oceanfront compound she worked on for more than five years, and of other residences, back to her early years in New York.

“This house has taken a lot out of me,” she told the Associated Press. “It was a project. Instead of directing a movie, I built a house. And it’s so much more complex than doing a movie.”
