Barbra Streisand turns 73 today – let’s enjoy a song from every decade of her stellar career

There are so many wonderful songs to choose from when putting together a sampling of Barbra Streisand’s unparallelled career.

From the 1960s you have her early TV appearances with the likes of Judy Garland and all the glorious Emmy winning TV specials and Grammy winning albums. Then there was her first big movie musical Funny Girl.

The 1970s included The Way We Were, Funny Lady and A Star is Born along with such albums as Superman, Wet, Songbird and Lazy Afternoon before she segued into the 1980s and gave us the glorious Yentl and The Broadway Album.

Streisand returned to live performing in the 1990s and the hit albums continued (Back to Broadway, Higher Ground) and she was nominated for an Oscar for I Finally Found Someone from her film The Mirror Has Two Faces.

In the past two decades she’s given us The Movie Album, Love Is the Answer, What Matters Most and re-teamed with Barry Gibb (Guilty Pleasures).

At 73, she’s still going strong with her latest album, Partners, debuting at number one last year.

Happy birthday to a legend.
