Barbra Streisand is writing a memoir!

She’s got one helluva life story – enough to fill at least several books.

So the fact that Barbra Streisand is writing a memoir is big news.

‘Barbra Streisand’s memoir is the entertainment story that has been on the top of every publisher’s wish list for years,’ Viking president Brian Tart said in a statement.

‘There are over fifty unauthorized biographies about Ms. Streisand that are full of myths and inaccuracies, and she is finally going to tell her own story.’

Streisand, 72, remains a best-selling recording artist whose most recent album, Partners, reached number one on the Billboard album chart and was Grammy nominated.

She has won all of the entertainment industry’s major awards including the Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe and Peabody awards. In addition, she has received the Kennedy Center Honors and the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award.

Streisand’s hit movies include Funny Girl, The Way We Were, What’s Up Doc, A Star is Born, Yentl, The Prince of Tides and Meet the Fockers, among others.

She has directed three major studio films and battled against sexism in Hollywood and also worked to get Democratic candidates elected including two-term US President Bill Clinton.

It’s not known how much Streisand will dish about her private life but there would be no shortage of material.

She has been married to James Brolin since 1998 and was married to Elliott Gould from 1963 to 1971 and has an openly gay son, Jason Gould, who was born in 1966.

Streisand has also had high-profile relationships with Jon Peters, Ryan O’Neal, Don Jonson and Andre Agassi, among others.

She had a difficult relationship with her mother, her father died when she was still a toddler and she had a stepfather who was emotionally cruel to her at times.
