Author Michael Ausiello has a very big night – high school classmates and bartending on WWHL
So happy to see that Michael Ausiello’s book, Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies, is getting the kind of attention it deserves. It is one of the best memoirs I have ever read and I think it should be considered for a National Book Award. Do yourself a favor and order the book now! You can also read my interview with Michael HERE.
So I don't even know where to begin with what happened last night at my @watchungbooksellers discussion/signing but I'll start by saying MY #rosellepark HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATES SHOWED UP EN MASSE WEARING CUSTOM-MADE #spoileralerttheherodies T-SHIRTS! And then they presented me with a proclamation heralding Sept 12 (the day of the book's release) "Michael Ausiello Day" in my native Union County. Oh, and Mrs. Cindea — the best teacher that a closeted gay boy growing up in small town NJ watching soaps and collecting Smurfs and overeating could ever ask for — made a grand entrance looking and acting just as fierce and fabulous as she did the last time I saw her some 25 years ago. Oh, and moderator @johnrobertsfun laced his questions with compassion, thoughtfulness and humor and at one point uttered the words "cock ring" and "c–t" in front of an audience that also included my Aunt Betty so that was fun. It was an extraordinarily special night. Thank you to everyone who participated — especially my RPHS soul mate Jill Rottmann, aka the event's ringleader– for making me feel like the luckiest, most loved guy in the world.
