Audrey Hepburn would be 80 years old today

I don’t want the day to go by without acknowledging what would have been the 80th birthday of the late Audrey Hepburn, the lovely actress, style icon and humanitarian who died much too soon in 1993. She starred in so many classic movies including my absolute fave Breakfast at Tiffanys along with My Fair Lady, Roman Holiday, Funny Face, Two for the Road, Sabrina, The Children’s Hour, Charade A Nun’s Story and Wait Until Dark.
She won a Tony Award and an Oscar but at the peak of her movie career in the late 60s, she walked away for several years to be with her two sons. I’ll never forget when she told Barbara Walters: “If I had only movies to look back on and not have known by boys, I would be miserable today.”
She dabbled in acting in her later years with her last role being in 1989′s Always directed by Steven Spielberg. But her most important work came later as an ambassador for UNICEF which she had worked for since the 1950s but became the focus of her final years as she traveled to places like Somalia to bring attention to the famine there.
She was a class act in every way.

What a lovely picture, the eyes say it all.
