As the World Turns: Luke victim of a hate crime

It’s been a dramatic week for our favorite gay hero Luke Snyder and I’m just catching up with all of it. After Luke and his mom Lily made a triumphant television appearance on a public affairs show denouncing anti-gay discrimination, he gets an anonymous threat. Luke’s boyfriend Noah and Lily want to contact the police but Luke is not phased and decides to go forward with a rally he has organized. His dad Holden wants wants to stop him but Lily decides to go along with it – trying to be as supportive as she can of her gay son.

Luke speaks at the rally and acknowledges “If anything, it shows us we need to find peaceful ways to fight back.” But moments later, as he goes out to retrieve some papers from his car, Luke is deliberately run down.

Today’s episode (video below) is the aftermath and an unexpected twist. Luke biological father Damien is back on the scene trying to re-establish contact with Luke. The last time he surfaced, it was to convince Lily to send their son to a camp to try and make him straight.

Noah visits a recovering Luke at home and they compare fathers. Noah’s dad, in case you don’t know, is a convicted murderer and tried to kill Luke who he blamed for turning his son gay.

“I think the colonel and Damien would have been really good drinking buddies,” Luke tells Noah.

Meanwhile, Lily meets with Damien to ask him to leave town. He is adamant about staying and after she leaves, he says to himself that he’s not leaving “until I get what I want.”

Whatever it is he wants, it can’t be good!
