Anderson Cooper no longer engaging Star Jones

Anderson Cooper says he’s done with Star Jones.

The talk show host and CNN anchor blasted the former co-host of The View last week in response to her alleging that he came out publicly as a gay man over the summer as a way to get ratings for his syndicated talk show Anderson Live.

Jones recently responded with this tweet: ‘I was wrong. @andersoncooper didn’t come out as a ratings ploy. He used ME talking about him coming out @todayshow as a ratings ploy. #mybad.’

When a guest brought Jones up on the daytime show Wednesday, Cooper made clear that he’s through talking about it.

‘Don’t get me in a war with Star Jones now,’ Cooper said. ‘I said my piece on Star Jones. I am not one to have a feud. She tweeted back something. I said my piece and then she tweeted me and I’m not responding.’

Jones had made her comments as part of a regular ‘Professionals’ segment on NBC’s The Today Show on which she regularly appears. Cooper told his audience that Jones’ bosses there were looking to capitalize on the feud.

‘Actually, The Today Show tried to book me to go on with Star Jones so we could tussle. I was like, I’ve got nothing more to say, nor do I want to be in a room with her. I’m done,’ he said.

On his show last week, Cooper said this of Jones: ‘I gave no interviews about (coming out), I never talked about it. I wasn’t even on the air for days afterward and so suddenly Star Jones, who as memory serves, in terms of boosting ratings, I seem to recall her hocking her wedding every single day to get free products when she was on The View and I seem to recall her lying about her gastric bypass surgery and making everybody else lie about it as well. So for her to suddenly emerge out of the shadows and suddenly attack me for this, I couldn’t believe it.’
