Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin are gearing up for another New Year’s Eve in Times Square for CNN

Well, I’m going to be at The Abbey in West Hollywood on New Year’s Eve but if I were home, I’d most certainly be tuned into CNN to watch Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin for their annual live coverage from Times Square in New York.

The pair chatted about their plans for the evening on Cooper’s nightly CNN show this week.

‘We are gonna break it down this year,’ Griffin warned Cooper. ‘This year the mask is coming off – the secrets that you’ve been keeping.’

Could she be talking about the fact that Cooper is gay, a fact that he finally confirmed publicly this fall?

‘I don’t mean the obvious one that even I’m bored with,’ she said, referring to his sexuality. ‘I mean the darker secrets are coming out. This is the year that you are in a ball in my arms … sobbing. And that’s by 10:20.’

Cooper merely giggled as Griffin went on about getting into the depths of his soul.

There are plenty of folks who are surprised that Griffin is part of CNN’s coverage for a sixth year after some of her past antics during the live telecast.

She once took most of her clothes off and has used foul language but her most memorable faux paus occurred in 2008 when , apparently thinking CNN had gone to commercial, she yelled at a heckler: ‘Shut up! I’m working! Why don’t you get a job buddy? You know, I don’t go to your job and knock the dicks out of your mouth!’
