http://tvmedia.ign.com/tv/image/article/760/760070/the-sarah-silverman-program-20070131111105336.jpgHow badly do you want to attend the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s “An Evening with Women: Celebrating Art, Music & Equality” on May 1?

If you enter and win a video contest to can win two tickets to the glitzy evening that will feature Gina Gershon (who recently starred in a Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie), Heart, Oscar winner Renée Zellweger (Bridget Jones’s DiaryChicago) and Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program).

Presented by the Center, Songwriter/ Producer Linda Perry and Impresario/Event Producer Brent Bolthouse, the evening takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and raises money to benefit the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s women’s services.

I’ve had an awesome time at the event the past two years where big stars like Sharon Stone and Jane Lynch have been a part of the proceedings. Last year Christina Aguilera performed and she really was beautiful and Jennifer Coolidge was an absolute riot as host. Sarah Silverman also rocked. Here is a LINK to my recap from the 2009 gala.

Okay, now for the scoop on the “Shoot For the Spotlight” online video contest that can get you there for free. The winner also gets backstage passes, a night at the Beverly Hills Hotel, a $500 gift card for travel on America Airlines and a Dtox spa treatment!

The way to win is to be get across why you want to be at ‘An Evening with Women.’ Videos could focus, for example, on a particular star you’re dying to see or focus on why you want to be at a huge gala event for lesbians, bisexual women and their supporters.

The center is encouraging people to get creative with format (monologue, skit, etc) but there is no need to spend lots of money on it – content is what matters. You can just do simple webcam/flip camera videos.

The contest winner will be selected via public voting at www.facebook.com/aneveningwithwomen. Entries must be submitted at www.facebook.com/aneveningwithwomen by Monday, April 5 at 12 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Public voting opens at noon April 5 and closes at noon PDT on Monday, April 12.

For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.AnEveningWithWomen.org. Tickets are $300 per seat or $3,000 for a table.
