After bitter fight, Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds will share custody of daughter Dakota
After a court battle, Rosie O’Donnell and ex-wife Michelle Rounds have agreed to share joint custody of their two-year-old daughter Dakota.
‘There’s peace in the Middle East,’ Rosie joked to reporters as she left a court in New York following a hearing.
‘It’s done,’ Rosie also said. ‘We’ve settled. We’re both very happy about the outcome.’
Last month, Rosie helped save the life of Michelle who had taken pills in a suicide attempt.
Michelle was said to be distraught over coming out on the losing end of the custody battle, according to TMZ.
Rosie reportedly got wind of Rounds’ plan to end her life and kept her ex on the phone long enough for paramedics to arrive. Michelle was rushed to a local hospital in Nyack, New York.
The former couple split in November 2014 after nearly three years of marriage and Rosie filed for divorce in February shortly after she abruptly quit her job as a co-host on ABC’s The View.
Earlier this year, both had issued statements drawing lines in the sand regarding custody with Rosie’s spokeswoman calling Michelle’s demand for full custody ‘an absurd and desperate attempt to use a child for her own gain.’
Michelle’s attorney had said then that his client sought sole custody ‘since it is unequivocally in their child’s best interest and general welfare.’
