		<description>Her job was to act, not to write. If she couldn&#039;t perform her job, it is understandable that they found someone else who could. Actors don&#039;t need to (and probably rarely do) believe what the characters they portray believe. One doesn&#039;t need to complete medical school to play a doctor on TV, one doesn&#039;t need to be straight to play a heterosexual love scene, one doesn&#039;t need to commit murder to play a psycho killer (Qu&#039;est-ce que c&#039;est), etc. 

Perhaps the character is so devoutly Catholic that she wouldn&#039;t necessarily be wild about homosexuality; maybe the character is also so loving as a mother that she wouldn&#039;t alienate her child if she thought he was gay. That&#039;s for the writers to decide. 

If an actor feels they can not bring to life a character with whom they do not agree, then there&#039;s nothing wrong with opting out of the role. Opting out of a role due to personal qualms regarding the differences between oneself and the fictional precludes one from the right to complain.</description>
