A Must-Read New Children’s Book: “I am Billie Jean King (Ordinary People Change the World)”

If I had a son or a daughter and wanted them to read about a real hero, it would be Billie Jean King.

This is someone who not only made her childhood dream of being the world’s best tennis player come true, but she led the way for equality in her sport and truly created social change.

So I’m thrilled that there is a new children’s book about the great BJK titled I am Billie Jean King (Ordinary People Change the World).

If you’ve got kids or nieces or nephews of godchildren or kids you are close to, this is someone they should know about!

According to This friendly, fun biography series focuses on the traits that made our heroes great–the traits that kids can aspire to in order to live heroically themselves. Each book tells the story of one of America’s icons in a lively, conversational way that works well for the youngest nonfiction readers and that always includes the hero’s childhood influences. At the back are an excellent timeline and photos. This volume features Billie Jean King, the world champion tennis player who fought successfully for women’s rights.
