A 2013 Coming Out Gallery!

I’m still high off of Robin Roberts coming out publicly. It’s a beautiful thing. It was just a line in a Facebook post and yet it makes such a difference.

So, here is a little gallery I’ve put together of some of the celebs who came out in 2013 – some long overdue in the minds of many and some a bit of a surprise.

I have to admit, I’ve completely lost patience with the snarky “it’s about time,” the smug “I knew that” and the bitter “Where were you when we needed you?” type comments that predictably follow public coming outs and have stopped posting them if they add nothing to the conversation.

Just because you saw someone at a gay bar 7 years ago or they set your gaydar off the first time you laid eyes on them doesn’t mean it’s not a story when they go public.

Anyway, I know I’m missing a few coming outs but think I have most of the high-profile ones. Whether they did in an interview, a tweet, on Facebook, on YouTube or in an impromptu TMZ interview, it’s awfully nice to have people out.

Congrats to all!

One Remark

  1. Thank you, Greg, for sharing the news in your column of those who have in a way that respects those individuals. It sets you apart from many others who just want to share the news at whatever pain it might cause to the individuals involved.
