2005 winner Greg Rikaart gets fifth Emmy nod for ‘The Young and the Restless’ – first as out actor
It was just so great to see Greg Rikaart’s name today included among the five Daytime Emmy nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor. It is his fifth nomination for playing Kevin Fisher on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless. He won in 2005 but this is his first nod for Y&R since 2008 and his first since coming out publicly as a gay man in 2013. The nomination comes after Greg’s contract was not renewed last spring after 14 years on the soap. But he returned to the soap for a two-week stint last fall and he could appear in future episodes. Meanwhile, Greg will appear in a multi-episode arc of NBC’s Days of Our Lives in an undisclosed role. Greg married writer Robert Sudduth in 2015 and they became the parents of a son last June.

Eddie says:
Any idea of when he started filming? Sonny is supposed to start dating someone who turns out to be a bad guy, but filming of those episodes would have been last fall.
Roni says:
Greg is going to be playing Leo, the new guy Sonny starts dating. He makes his debut this Tuesday. I can’t wait!

Greg was one of the reasons I started watching Y&R again, hoped they would write Kevin as a man discovering him gay side.
